Hooker earns Big 12 Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week
DALLAS -- Texas sophomore Marshevet Hooker (San Antonio, Texas) earned Big 12 Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors, the conference office announced on Tuesday. She won the 100-meter dash at the 111th Penn Relays Carnival on Saturday, April 30, matching the nation's fastest time of 11.24, and anchored the 4x100-meter relay to a victory in the college final. At this point in the season, Hooker ranks first nationally in the 100 meters and Texas' 4x100-meter relay team has the fastest mark recorded (43.25). She also holds the nation's second-longest leap in the long jump at 21-10. The Longhorns are currently preparing for the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are being held in Manhattan, Kan., Fri.-Sun., May 13-15.
