Women's Track & Field is No. 1 team in weekly rankings

AUSTIN, Texas- The Texas Women's Track & Field team has claimed the No. 1 spot according to the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Team Computer Rankings. Texas took over No. 1 for the first time in the five years of ranking history, moving up from their previous mark of No. 3 last week. They and No. 2 Clemson are separated by less than a ranking point (286.74-286.22). In fact, only 41 points distance the top five teams as No. 3 Florida, No. 4 LSU, and No. 5 Kansas round out the top five. The Texas women competed at the Drake Relays this weekend where the earned three first place finishes. The 4x100m Relay team of Morgan Snow, Allison Peter, Christy Udoh and Chalonda Goodman set a Drake Relays record with a time of 43.58 in their victory. Additionally, Peter earned another top finish after completing the 100m dash with a mark of 11.23. Texas also took first in the 4x400m Relay where the foursome of Anglee Cooper, Kendra Chambers, Danielle Dowie and Briana Nelson combined for a time of 3:33.15.
Next up for the University of Texas Women's Track and Field team is the Big 12 Outdoor Championships held in Manhattan, Kan. from May 11-13.
