Women's Track and Field preview: Texas Twilight
AUSTIN, Texas -- After turning in a solid road performance last weekend at the North Texas Spring Classic, No. 1 Texas returns to Mike A. Myers Stadium this weekend for the Texas Twilight meet. The event begins Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m. CDT with the men's hammer throw and women's javelin throw and continues through the evening. The meet ends at 8:20 p.m. with the running of the men's and women's 4x400-meter relays.
Texas will welcome teams from Texas-San Antonio, Texas-Pan American, Texas State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Oklahoma. Live results will be available at TexasSports.com via deltatiming.com. Admission is free.
Texas returns to its home track after a successful outing last weekend at the North Texas Spring Classic in Denton. Junior Michelle Carter (Ovilla, Texas) captured the shot put and the discus, registering a personal best in the latter event. Freshman Larkin Geyer (Austin, Texas) claimed the 3000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Ashley Laughlin (Marble Falls, Texas) captured the pole vault, and senior Ychlindria Spears (Luling, Texas) took the long jump.
