Women's Track and Field lights UT Tower
AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas women's track and field team capped its sixth NCAA indoor track and field championship by taking part in one of UT's time-honored traditions -- the lighting of the UT Tower -- on Tuesday evening, March 22. In keeping with the tradition of recognizing Texas' National Championship teams, the campus landmark was drenched in burnt orange lighting with the number "1" lit on all four sides of the Tower. Fans, UT student-athletes, coaches and administrators and members of the media gathered Tuesday evening to mark the occasion. "Lighting the UT Tower has become an addiction," said UT coach Bev Kearney, the 2006 NCAA Women's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year. "This is my sixth Tower lighting, but it feels like my first!"
