Kearney set to receive Auburn's Lifetime Achievement Award

AUBURN, Ala. -- Texas women's track and field coach Bev Kearney will be recognized by her alma mater Auburn University as a recipient of the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Awards on Saturday, March 1, 2008.

Each year, the Auburn Alumni Association recognizes extraordinary accomplishments by members of the Auburn family. To be selected for the award, nominees must have attained prominence in their professional careers, and they must be persons of integrity, stature and demonstrated ability.

Emory Cunningham, C. Lloyd Nix and James Taylor Pursell Sr. join Kearney in the group of honorees at a dinner at the Auburn University Hotel and Dixon Conference Center.

Kearney followed her athletic success at Auburn< which included two All-America honors and qualifying for the U.S. Olympic team in the 200-meter before her graduation in 1981

Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Hall of Fame on Dec. 17, 2007, has totaled seven NCAA National Championships in her 22 years as a head coach (six at Texas) and one at the University of Florida. During her coaching career, her teams have captured 22 league titles (11 Big 12 Conference, eight Southwest Conference and three Southeastern Conference) and recorded an undefeated mark in four years of competition in the Southwest Conference (1993-1996).
