Women's Track and Field ranked 10th by USTFCCCA
AUSTIN, Texas -- The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the first poll of the 2007 season today, and have the Texas women's track and field team ranked 10th. The reigning NCAA Indoor National Champion Longhorns return two individual scorers in national champion shot putter Michelle Carter (Ovilla, Texas) and All-American high jumper Destinee Hooker (San Antonio), and one of the legs of the third-place 4x400-meter relay in sophomore sprinter Alex Anderson (Chicago, Ill.). Thirty-five coaches, including one representative from each Division I conference, vote in the USTFCCCA Division I indoor poll. Weekly men's and women's Division I polls will be released each Tuesday leading up to the national championships.
