AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Women's Track and Field team heads to College Station for the Texas A&M Challenge which will features teams from the Big 12 (Texas A&M, Texas and Baylor), Pac-10 (Washington State, Stanford, Oregon) and SEC (Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina). The two-day meet will take place Friday-Saturday, January 29-30 at Gilliam Indoor Stadium.

MEETING OF TOP TEAMS
This weekend's Texas A&M Challenge will bring together some of the top ranked teams and individuals in the nation including the No. 1 Aggies, No. 2 Oregon, No. 9 Florida, No. 10 Arkansas, No. 11 South Carolina and No. 16 Baylor. The meet will also feature the nation's top individuals in the 60m, 200m, shot put and the top three runners in the 400m and top three 4x400m relays.

LONGHORNS KNOCK OFF NO. 1 TEXAS A&M IN DUAL MEET (Jan. 23)
The Longhorns won the Texas A&M Dual Meet (Jan. 23), 80.5-78.5, at Gilliam Indoor Stadium. The meet was decided by the last event of the night, the 4x400m relay, where the Longhorns edged the top-ranked Aggies 3:35.39 to 3:35.60 for the win. Both teams were knotted at 75.50 heading into the mile relay where UT also picked up an NCAA provisional mark. The Longhorns' earned seven provisional marks and won eight individual events along with the mile relay and the DMR. Freshman Natasha Masterson also tied the UT indoor pole vault record with her PR clearance of 13-6.25 (4.12m)


 

 

MASTERSON TIES SCHOOL RECORD
Freshman pole vaulter Natasha Masterson tied the Texas indoor pole vault record in just her second meet as a Longhorn with her NCAA provisional clearance of 13-6.25 (4.12m). Masterson matched Ashley Laughlin's height set on March 3, 2007 and joins the Texas Ex as the only Horns to clear 4.00 meters. The Pflugerville, Texas native also outdid her previous PR (12-7.5), set just a week prior, by almost a full foot.

Cooper (2nd, 3:35.39); 400m - Angele Cooper (3rd, 53.23); Triple Jump - Chantel Malone (10th, 41-10.5); Pole Vault - Natasha Masterson (t-10th, 13-4.25); Shot Put - Jordyn Brown (11th, 52-7.5); Long Jump - Chantel Malone (12th, 20-4.25); 200m - Angele Cooper (12th, 23.88)

PICKIN' UP PROVISIONAL MARKS
Three Longhorns and a relay have picked up eight NCAA provisional marks in just two weekends of competition so far this season. Senior Jordyn Brown has reached the provisional standard in the shot put twice led by her season-best mark of 52.7.5 (16.04m) while sophomore Angele Cooper has also collected two marks, one in the 200 (23.88) and one in the 400m (53.23). Junior Chantel Malone has also reached provisional marks in the long jump (20-4.25) and triple jump (41-10.5).
