AUSTIN, Texas -- The No. 11 Texas women's track and field will split squads this weekend. A group of Longhorns return to Houston for the Leonard Hilton Memorial meet on Friday, Jan. 18. A second group competes at the Illinois Women's Quadrangle meet in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday, Jan. 19.

Women's Quad meet
Four teams will participate in the Illinois Women's Quadrangle meet. The Longhorns will join No. 14 UCLA, Miami and host-school, No. 25 Illinois. The day begins with the weight throw at 10 a.m. CT and concludes with the 4x300-meter relay at 3:24 p.m. CT.

Last Weekend's Recap
The No. 11 Longhorns finished second in the scored meet to Houston, 141-125. UT totaled three provisional qualifiers and won six events in the 2008 season opener. Junior Alexandria Anderson (Chicago,  Ill) and freshman Bianca Knight (Ridgeland, Miss.) clocked the fastest 60-meter times this season, both running 7.34 in the finals, and senior pole vaulter Ashley Laughlin (Marble Falls, Texas) became the first UT pole vaulter to meet the NCAA provisional standard this year, clearing 12-11.50 (3.95m). Sophomore Jordyn Brown (Mesquite, Texas) threw a career-best 47-9.5 (14.57m) in winning the shot put. Sophomore Asia Myrland (Verona, Wisc.) took the 5,000-meter title in 17:48.40 and second-year runner Betzy Jimenez (Hereford, Texas) took the 800 in 2:13.97. Newcomer Lindsey Kaye (Littleton, Colo.) grabbed her first college title with a 17-2.75 (5.25m) in the long jump b-section.

Big 12 leaders (Times are converted to banked-track marks)
Anderson and Knight lead the conference in the 60-meter dash (7.34)... Myrland leads the Big 12 in the 5,000-meter run (17:46.80)... Laughlin's provisional height (12-11.50/3.95m) is third in the Big 12... Senior Alandra Sherman (Houston, Texas) is second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.62)... Jimenez is fifth in the 3,000-meter run (10:08.97)... Freshman Kristin Schultz (The Woodlands, Texas) cleared the fifth-highest height in the league (5-2.25/1.58m)... Brown has the fifth-farthest shot put mark in the conference... The 4x400-meter relay's time of 3:50.08 is fifth on the Big 12 performances list.

NCAA leaders and Provisional qualifiers
Three Longhorns have met the NCAA provisional standard in their events. Anderson and Knight clocked 7.34 seconds to beat the standard of 7.44. Laughlin equaled the provisional height of 12-11.50 (3.95m) in the pole vault.
