The competitive 12-team meet features four U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top-25 squads on the women's side, including No. 4 LSU, No. 5 Florida, Texas and No. 24 Auburn.  Other teams competing are Alabama, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Samford, South Florida, Southern Mississippi and Tulane.

Who is returning in 2013 ... The Longhorns bring back five All-Americans from the 2012 indoor season, including three of the four members of their NCAA Championship runner-up 4x400-meter relay team in three-time All-Americans Danielle Dowie, Kendra Chambers and Briana Nelson. Four-time All-American Shanay Briscoe, who earned fourth in high jump at last year's indoor national meet, and Sara Sutherland, who earned her first All-America honor by placing fifth in the 5,000-meter at 2012 NCAAs with a school record-breaking time of 15:53.73, are also returning for Texas.

Success beyond the 40 Acres in 2012 ... Several Longhorns will bring achievement in national and international competition to their 2013 collegiate campaigns.

  • Junior Christy Udoh raced for Nigeria at the 2012 London Olympics, helping her team to the 4x100-meter relay final. She also competed in the 200-meter.
  • Junior Shanay Briscoe placed fourth in high jump at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, clearing an outdoor career-best 1.92m (6-3.75).
  • Junior Danielle Dowie earned a pair of bronze medals in the 400-meter hurdles and 4x400m relay at the 2012 North America-Central America and Caribbean Under-23 (NACAC U-23) Championships in Guanajuato, Mexico.  Dowie also narrowly missed Olympic qualification for Jamaica in the 400m hurdles at the 2012 Jamaica National Senior Championships.
  • Following her freshman season at Texas, Morgan Snow won gold in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2012 IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona.

Where the Longhorns are nationally ... UT placed 11 in the USTFCCCA preseason top-34 event-by-event rankings, including its fourth-ranked 4x400m relay team.  Also earning top-10 positions were Briscoe in high jump (seventh) and Sutherland in the 5,000m (eighth).  A pair of Longhorns cracked the top-20 nationally in the 400-meter in Nelson (12th) and senior Alicia Peterson (17th).  Also earning a top-20 ranking were Udoh in the 200-meter (11th), Brannon in long jump (12th) and Snow in the 60-meter hurdles (20th).  Goodman (200m) and Chambers (400m) each stand at 23rd in their respective events, while Sutherland also ranks 30th in the 3,000-meter.

Going the distance ... Junior Marielle Hall led Texas to its third consecutive NCAA Cross Country Championships berth in November, picking up her first career cross country All-America honor by placing 23rd.  Hall became UT's eighth cross country All-American all-time, posting the highest finish for a Longhorn at the national meet since 1989.  Her NCAA accomplishment followed her individual title win at the regional meet, which earned her 2012 USTFCCCA South Central Region Athlete of the Year accolades.
