Briscoe leads the Longhorns as the Women's Track & Field team has a strong day at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The University of Texas Women's Track & Field team secured the top two spots in the high jump to round out a strong showing at the Drake Relays on Friday.
Shanay Briscoe earned first place accolades by clearing the six-foot mark for the first time this season after leaping 6-00.50 (1.84m) in the high jump finals. Victoria Lucas tied for second with Alabama sophomore Krystle Schade as they each jumped 5-11.25 (1.81m).
Senior Okwukwe Okolie tied a personal best in the discus throw with a mark of 175- 0 (53.35m) earning her fourth place in the finals.
Snow, Peter and Goodman continued to excel throughout the day as each Longhorn qualified in their individual events later that morning.
Snow won the fourth heat in the 100m hurdles and was fourth overall with a time of 13.90.
Peter headed the group of talented athletes in the 100m dash with an ending time of 11.67 for first place. Goodman ran the race in a time of 12.14 taking seventh overall in the prelims.
The Longhorns 4x400m relay won the second heat and placed third overall sending them to the finals on Saturday. The foursome of Angele Cooper, Kendra Chambers, Danielle Dowie and Briana Nelson teamed up for a time of 3:38.16.
Other UT athletes in action on Friday were Amanda Van Dyke who ranked 17 th in the shot put finals with a mark of 50-00.00 (15.24m).
Saturday will mark the final day of the Drake Relays. The morning session will lead off with the 8-kilometer and the half-marathon road races at 8 a.m. Field events also begin at 8 a.m. with high school girls shuttle hurdle relay preliminaries.
