Brown picks up NCAA provisional mark at Arkansas Last Chance meet

Senior posts season-best shot put mark of 54-1 (16.48m) to move up the national descending list.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- University of Texas Women's Track and Field senior Jordyn Brown posted a season-best shot put throw of 54-1 (16.48m) at the Arkansas Las Chance Meet Friday afternoon, to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championship.

Brown entered the last chance weekend 18th on the national descending list, but her throw moves her up to 11th. Last year, Brown was seeded 10th to the NCAA Indoor meet and went on to finish fourth with a career-best toss of 55-3.5 (16.85m) for her first career All-America honor.

Brown and the rest of the Longhorns will now wait to see who has qualified for the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships when the qualifiers are announced Monday. The national meet will be held March 12-13 on the campus of Arkansas.
