Behm automatically qualifies for NCAA Indoors

AUSTIN, Texas - Junior Mia Behm automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday night after posting a 15:58.34 for the second-fastest time ever at the University of Texas. The junior was one of 12 Longhorns to set personal-bests on Friday.
Behm, competing in Seattle at the Husky Classic, clocked her personal-best 5,000m time of 15:58.34 for sixth overall at the top distance meet in the country. The junior qualified for her career first NCAA Indoor Championships after earning NCAA All-America honors during the cross country season. In the high jump, freshman Shanay Briscoe cleared 5-11.50 (1.82m) for first place, followed by junior Victoria Lucas and sophomore Alicia Peterson who tied for second with 5-9.25 (1.76m). In other field events, freshman A'Lexus Brannon posted a collegiate-best mark of 19-7.0 (5.97m) for fifth followed by junior Beverly Owoyele leaped a personal-best 18-10.75 (5.76m) for ninth. Senior Chantel Malone bettered her triple jump personal-best for the second meet in a row, posting a leap of 43-5.75 (13.25m) to finish second overall.
Sophomore Chalonda Goodman posted a season-best 7.48 to advance to the 60m finals while freshman Christy Udoh posted a season-best 7.49 for second in the prelims. The Longhorns wrap up the weekend with distance competitors at the Husky Classic on Saturday, Feb. 12.
