Women's Tennis wraps up competition at All-American
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Juniors Katie Ruckert (Vienna, Va.) and Kendra Strohm (Tucson, Ariz.) fell short of advancing to the semifinals in main draw doubles action at the ITA All-American Championships held at the Riviera Tennis Club on Friday, Oct. 8.
The No. 19-ranked tandem of Ruckert and Strohm were defeated, 8-5, by the No. 12-ranked duo of Jennifer Magley and Zerene Reyes of Florida. The loss comes one day after the Texas duo posted an upset victory over the No. 2-ranked doubles team of Megan Muth and Amy Wei of William & Mary.
In the main draw singles consolation bracket, sophomore Petra Dizdar (Split, Croatia), ranked No. 20 in singles, lost her first round match to No. 21-ranked Natalie Braverman of Pepperdine, 6-3, 7-5.
The Texas women's tennis team returns to action on Friday, Oct. 15 at the ITA Regional Championships.
