AUSTIN, Texas – Texas senior All-American Aeriel Ellis and all-conference sophomores Lina Padegimaite and Noel Scott have earned places in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason individual rankings.
Ellis (Hayward, Calif.) ranks 20th in the ITA preseason singles rankings, while Padegimaite (Kaunas, Lithuania) and Scott (Los Angeles, Calif.) hold the No. 18 slot in the ITA preseason doubles rankings. Padegimaite also ranks 104th in the ITA singles rankings.
Ellis posted a 20-17 overall singles record during her junior season. The Californian earned her second consecutive ITA singles All-America honor after winning a pair of matches in the 64-player singles draw at the NCAA Championships. Ellis has qualified for all nine national championship events contested during her three-plus seasons as a Longhorn.
Padegimaite and Scott finished the 2011-12 campaign with a No. 41 ITA doubles ranking. The duo earned All-Big 12 doubles honors last season after posting a 5-3 mark in conference play. Padegimaite posted an impressive 21-5 dual-match singles record last season and was selected as the 2012 Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year.
Texas opens fall tournament play this weekend (Sept. 14-16) at the Duke Invitational.
