Women's Tennis places four in final ITA poll

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recognized four Longhorns in its final singles and doubles poll, released Friday. Sophomore Petra Dizdar (Split, Croatia) and juniors Mia Marovic (Split, Croatia) and Kendra Strohm (Tucson, Ariz.) received rankings in singles, while the duo of Strohm and junior Katie Ruckert (Vienna, Va.) finished the season ranked in doubles.

In singles, Dizdar climbed 17 spots in the poll to No. 37, marking her highest ranking of the season. The sophomore posted a 23-17 overall record, including three consecutive upset victories over 12th-ranked Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech, third-ranked Aibika Kalsarieva of Kentucky and fifth-ranked Jennifer Magley of Florida in the NCAA Championships.

Marovic, who earned her first All-Big 12 honor in singles, ended her junior campaign with a 29-10 overall record and a final singles ranking of No. 91. Strohm followed at No. 92 in the singles poll with a 21-19 mark on the year. In addition, Strohm and Ruckert were recognized as the No. 30 doubles tandem in the nation after posting a 17-16 overall record while playing at the top of Texas' doubles lineup.

UT ended the season ranked third in the ITA national team rankings after advancing to the finals of the NCAA Championships and compiling a 25-6 dual-match record.
