Lancaster named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team

AUSTIN, Texas -- Members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) have selected Texas women's tennis senior Sarah Lancaster to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team in the women's at-large university division. Lancaster (San Antonio, Texas), a sport management major, earns her first career selection to the team. The women's at-large division features student-athletes competing in swimming and diving, tennis, golf, bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo. The district six university division includes NCAA Division I schools in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, Mississippi and Arkansas. As a first-team all-district selection, Lancaster advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. Lancaster was crowned as the Big 12 Conference champion at No. 5 singles this season after going 11-0 in league play. A three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, Lancaster wraps up her Texas career with a 40-1 record in Big 12 regular-season matches. Lancaster and the Longhorns take on top-ranked Baylor on Thursday at 5 p.m. Central in the NCAA Championships' round of 16 in Athens, Ga. To be nominated for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve on their respective teams with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes must reach sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution to be eligible.
