FORT WORTH, Texas -- No. 18 Texas managed a spirited effort Saturday against No. 16 TCU, but the Horned Frogs proved to be too much for the Longhorns, as TCU registered a 4-0 victory over Texas in NCAA Tennis Championships' round of 32 at TCU's Friedman Tennis Center. The Longhorns' season comes to a close at 18-12.
Texas opened with a convincing victory at third doubles, but TCU took the remaining two matches to clinch the doubles point. UT senior Kelly Baritot (Allison Park, Pa.) won her first set at fifth singles over TCU's Nichols, but Nichols responded with 6-3 and 6-0 wins in the ensuing sets to clinch the match. The remaining three matches had either progressed to a third set or held the potential to reach an extra set when the match was stopped.

At third singles, Texas senior Kendra Strohm (Tucson, Ariz.) dropped the first set against TCU's 119th-ranked Anna Sydorska but was engaged in a spirited battle in the second set, which ended with Texas and TCU even at five games apiece. UT's Olson rallied for a second-set win at the sixth slot over TCU's Gloriann Lopez after dropping the first set.
