Four Longhorns named to Academic All-Big 12 Women's Tennis team

DALLAS -- University of Texas seniors Kendra Strohm (Tucson, Ariz.) and Mia Marovic (Split, Croatia), junior Petra Dizdar (Split, Croatia) and sophomore Courtney Zauft (San Antonio, Texas) earned selections Tuesday to the 2006 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Tennis Team.Dizdar, Strohm and Zauft collected first-team honors, while Marovic was selected to the second team.

Strohm, a kinesiology major, earned her third consecutive Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection.She owns a 36-32 overall singles and doubles record this season, including a 5-1 mark at the No. 3 position in Big 12 play.Dizdar, a public relations major, collected her second consecutive Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection.She holds a 32-27 singles and doubles record this season, including a 5-2 mark at the second position in conference play.

Zauft, a corporate communications major, picks up her first Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection.She holds a 33-27 singles and doubles record this season and has compiled a 6-1 mark at fourth singles in Big 12 play.Marovic, an economics major, collects her second Academic All-Big 12 selection in as many seasons.She owns a 36-23 singles and doubles mark and a 5-2 record at first singles in conference play.

Student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher - either cumulative or during the previous two semesters - and must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled matches.Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

First-team members have maintained a GPA of 3.20 or higher, while the second-team members qualified with grade-point averages between 3.00 and 3.19.
