Four Longhorns named to Academic All-Big 12 Women's Tennis Team
IRVING, Texas -- University of Texas seniors Petra Dizdar and Ristine Olson, junior Courtney Zauft and sophomore Marija Milic were named Tuesday to the 2007 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Tennis Team, as announced by the league. Dizdar and Zauft were selected to the first team, while Olson and Milic were named to the second team. Dizdar (Split, Croatia), now a three-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree, is a three-time All-Big 12 singles selection. She totaled a 4-3 singles mark in conference play this season. A public relations major, Dizdar will enroll in UT's LBJ School of Public Affairs this spring to pursue a master's degree in international business. Zauft (San Antonio, Texas), collected her second consecutive selection to the Academic All-Big 12 first team. An applied learning and development major, Zauft holds a 15-11 overall singles mark this season, including a 5-2 mark in conference play. Olson (Missoula, Mont.) earned her first career selection to the Academic All-Big 12 team. An applied learning and development major, Olson holds a 13-6 dual-match singles record this season, including an impressive 8-1 record in Big 12 play. Milic (Etobicoke, Ontario) also earned her first career selection to the Academic All-Big 12 team. An education major, Milic owns a 3-1 mark in Big 12 singles action and has excelled in doubles play with freshman Vanja Corovic (Belgrade, Serbia). The duo finished conference play with a 10-1 doubles record. The 2007 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Tennis Team consisted of 32 first-team members along with 12 on the second team. First-team members maintained a minimum 3.20 grade-point average, and second-team members maintained a minimum 3.00 grade-point average. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulative or during the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 60 percent of his team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
