AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 19 Texas (14-10, 8-2) claimed the doubles point and all six singles points en route to a 7-0 win over Missouri (10-10, 1-9) on Saturday, April 22 at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center. The Longhorns improve to 14-10 with the victory.
Texas kicked off the match with a sweep in doubles. Senior Mia Marovic (Split, Croatia) and sophomore Courtney Zauft (San Antonio, Texas) opened doubles play in authoritative fashion with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while juniors Petra Dizdar (Split, Croatia) and Ristine Olson (Missoula, Mont.) clinched the doubles point for the Longhorns at the No. 3 position by an 8-3 count.
Texas maintained the lead going into singles, as Zauft defeated Missouri's Lubica Nadasska at No. 2 in a 6-3, 6-3 count, while Dizdar took the Texas score to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Yelena Olshanskaya at the No. 1 position.
Olson clinched the match for the Longhorns by defeating Krissy Svetlic by a 6-4, 6-2 margin at the fifth position, and freshman Marija Milic (Etobicoke, Ontario) soon followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win, knocking off Missouri's Charlotte Bellis at the No. 6 slot.
Seniors Kendra Strohm (Tucson, Ariz.) and Kelly Baritot (Allison Park, Pa.) added hard-fought wins at the third and fourth positions respectively to cap the 7-0 victory for the Longhorns.
The Longhorns will host their last regular-season match on Sunday, April 23 at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center against Kansas. Seniors Baritot, Marovic and Strohm will be honored prior to Sunday's match. First serve is set for 12 p.m. CST. Fans are advised to arrive early due to the BPMS 150 bicycle race scheduled to run through Austin.
