Women's Tennis preview: Texas Tech

AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 15 Texas (11-9, 5-1) continues Big 12 Conference play Saturday as it plays host to No. 55 Texas Tech (12-6, 5-3). First serve is set for 1 p.m. CDT at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center. The match is the first contest as part of a season-ending five-match home stand.

Texas' perfect run in league play ended Thursday night as the Longhorns suffered a 6-1 defeat at Texas A&M. Sophomore Courtney Zauft (San Antonio, Texas) tallied the lone singles point for Texas, defeating Nicki Mechem in three sets at the fourth slot.

Texas Tech is coming off of a pair of losses at the hands of Baylor and Texas A&M. The Red Raiders recently ascended to a program-best No. 50 ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings before suffering their two most recent losses. Texas dealt Texas Tech a 7-0 defeat last season in Lubbock.

Texas features two student-athletes in the ITA singles rankings in 68th-ranked senior Mia Marovic and 81st-ranked junior Petra Dizdar.
