Women's Tennis preview: Texas A&M

AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 15 Texas journeys to College Station on Thursday to meet No. 41 Texas A&M in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown.  First serve is set for 6 p.m. CDT at A&M’s George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.

Texas (11-8, 5-0) enters the match after winning consecutive contests against Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Washington.  Seniors Mia Marovic (Split, Croatia), Kelly Baritot (Allison Park, Pa.) and Kendra Strohm (Tucson, Ariz.), as well as junior Petra Dizdar (Split, Croatia) each have won their last three singles matches.  Sophomore Courtney Zauft (San Antonio, Texas) has won her last two singles contests.

Texas A&M (9-8, 5-0) has won four straight matches after blanking Texas Tech and Colorado on the road last weekend.  The Aggies feature 50th-ranked Anna Lubinsky, who teams with Nicki Mechem to solidify the nation’s 25th-ranked doubles tandem.

Texas scored a pair of victories over Texas A&M last season in Austin.  The Longhorns scored a 5-2 victory during the regular season and a 4-1 win at the NCAA Regional Championships last May at UT’s Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
