IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference selected Texas' Vanja Corovic as its Women's Tennis Co-Player of the Week Monday afternoon after the freshman totaled a perfect 6-0 singles and doubles record in the Longhorns' three victories last week.
Corovic (Belgrade, Serbia), who holds a No. 61 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles ranking, helped Texas to victories over Illinois, Colorado and Oklahoma in the past week.
Corovic defeated Illinois' Megan Fudge by a 6-3, 6-3 count in UT's 7-0 win over the Fighting Illini on March 21. She added a 6-4, 6-3 upset victory over Colorado's 35th-ranked Monica Milewski on March 24 to help the Longhorns to a 6-1 win over the 20th-ranked Buffaloes.
Corovic finished off her perfect week with a decisive 6-0, 6-2 win over Oklahoma's Gabby Baker on March 25. She added doubles victories with sophomore Marija Milic (Etobicoke, Ontario) in UT's wins over Illinois, Colorado and Oklahoma.
Corovic was named the Big 12 Women's Tennis Co-Player of the Week with Texas A&M's Anna Lubinsky.
