STILLWATER, Okla. -- No. 15 Texas (10-8) collected its second Big 12 Conference victory in as many days to remain unbeaten in league play Sunday, as the Longhorns scored a 6-1 victory over No. 62 Oklahoma State (6-7) at the DeBois Tennis Center. Texas improves to 5-0 in Big 12 play.
As was the case in its match Saturday at Oklahoma, Texas opened the match by sweeping the doubles matches. Texas seized control of the match in singles play, claiming five of six matches.
Senior Mia Marovic (Split, Croatia) collected her second consecutive win, defeating OSU's Ira Tkachenko, 6-0, 6-3. Junior Petra Dizdar (Split, Croatia) also picked up her second straight victory, shutting out Zana Masnic, 6-0, 6-0 at the second position.
Senior Kendra Strohm (Tucson, Ariz.) claimed her second win of the weekend, defeating Oklahoma State's Lauren Simmons, 6-3, 6-2 at the third position. Senior Kelly Baritot (Allison Park, Pa.), the fourth Longhorn to sweep her weekend matches, scored a 6-4, 6-4 win at fifth singles over Jennifer Poskitt.
Sophomore Courtney Zauft (San Antonio, Texas) added a 6-4, 6-2 win over Marta Tsivka for the final Texas point. Freshman Marija Milic (Etobicoke, Ontario) rallied for a second-set win over Zuzanna Osinka but fell in the third set, 6-4, at the sixth position.
Texas plays its final non-conference match next Saturday, April 1 when it hosts Washington. First serve is set for 1 p.m. CST at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
