Women's Tennis preview: Oklahoma and Oklahoma State
AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 15 Texas (8-8, 3-0) returns to Big 12 Conference play this weekend when it takes to the road to meet Oklahoma and No. 62 Oklahoma State. UT takes on OU on Saturday at 10 a.m. CST in Norman before meeting the Cowgirls on Sunday at 10 a.m. in Stillwater. Texas looks to get back on the winning track after dropping its last three matches to highly-ranked opponents, including a 7-0 setback to No. 2 Notre Dame on Monday in Austin. The Longhorns recorded their last victory on Monday, March 13 at William and Mary. Oklahoma (6-7, 1-1) dropped its most recent outing at Baylor, suffering a 6-1 defeat in Waco on Tuesday. Texas dealt the Sooners a 5-2 loss a season ago in Austin. Oklahoma State (6-5, 2-1) scored a 4-3 win over Kansas in its most recent match on March 12. UT defeated the Cowgirls by a 7-0 margin last season in Austin. Texas has not surrendered a point to Oklahoma State since the 2002 season, when UT posted a 4-1 victory. Texas features three student-athletes in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings in 71st-ranked junior Petra Dizdar (Split, Croatia), 79th-ranked senior Mia Marovic (Split, Croatia) and 109th-ranked senior Kendra Strohm (Tucson, Ariz.). The Longhorns have won 10 consecutive matches against Big 12 Conference opponents.
