NORMAN, Okla. -- No. 15 Texas swept doubles play and claimed five of six singles matches on its way to a 6-1 victory Saturday at Big 12 Conference rival Oklahoma. UT ends its three-match losing streak and remains unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.
Texas and Oklahoma engaged in a hard-fought doubles session, where the Longhorns ultimately prevailed. UT seniors Kelly Baritot (Allison Park, Pa.) and Kendra Strohm (Tucson, Ariz.) clinched the doubles point at the second position as they defeated OU's Monica Purice and Anne Carter, 9-7.
Texas clinched the match shortly thereafter with a dominant singles showing. Strohm defeated OU's Purice by a 6-1, 6-0 count at the third position, giving UT a 2-0 lead. Baritot dispatched OU's Gabriela Nastasa, winning by a 6-3, 6-3 count at the fifth position before UT senior Mia Marovic (Split, Croatia) knocked off Gabby Baker at the first slot, 6-3, 6-3, to finish off the Sooners.
Texas freshman Marija Milic (Etobicoke, Ontario) and junior Petra Dizdar (Split, Croatia) added straight-set victories at the sixth and second positions, respectively, for the final 6-1 margin.
Texas wraps up its road swing on Sunday at Oklahoma State. First serve is set for 10 a.m. CST in Stillwater, Okla.
