Women's Tennis falls to Vanderbilt, 5-2
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- No. 11 Texas collected singles victories from sophomore Courtney Zauft (San Antonio, Texas) and junior Ristine Olson (Missoula, Mont.), but it wasn't enough as No. 13 Vanderbilt topped the Longhorns by a 5-2 count Friday afternoon at VU's Currey Tennis Center. UT falls to 8-7 on the season. UT seniors Kelly Baritot (Allison Park, Pa.) and Kendra Strohm (Tucson, Ariz.) scored an 8-2 victory at second doubles over Vanderbilt's Courtney Ulery and Liberty Sveke, but the Commodores won at the first and third positions to capture the doubles point. Zauft evened the tally at one with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Ulery at fourth singles. However, the Commodores reclaimed the lead and never looked back, getting singles wins at the first, second, third and fifth positions to clinch the team victory. UT's Olson tallied the final Longhorn point, defeating VU's Sveke by a 6-4, 7-5 count at the sixth position. Texas returns home Monday evening, March 20 to take on No. 2 Notre Dame.
