Women's Tennis preview: Nebraska and Colorado

AUSTIN, Texas -- After finishing as the runner-up at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships last week, No. 3 (3-3) Texas kicks off conference play this weekend as it heads to No. 36 Nebraska and No. 42 Colorado. UT meets Nebraska on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. CST and Colorado on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. CST.

The Longhorns are coming off of a terrific performance at the ITA National Indoors in which they completed a run to the finals in the school's first tournament appearance. Texas upset then-No. 3 Georgia Tech to open the tournament before defeating top-15 foes Miami (Fla.) and Duke to reach the finals. Top-ranked Stanford extended its winning streak to 62 matches by defeating the Longhorns for the title.

Nebraska enters Saturday's match with a perfect 4-0 record on the young season. The Cornhuskers feature 36th-ranked Kim Hartman. UT blanked Nebraska, 7-0, last season in Austin.

Colorado enters Sunday's match with a 5-1 record, and, like Nebraska, will be playing its first Big 12 match. The Buffaloes' Veera Nurmi ranks 84th in the latest ITA singles rankings. CU has defeated two ranked opponents - No. 46 Denver and No. 53 Alabama - this season. UT knocked off Colorado by a 5-2 count last season in Austin.
