WHAT: No. 16 Texas (1-0) hits the road to take on William & Mary in the opening round of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Should Texas win on Saturday and again on Sunday against either North Carolina or Michigan, UT would advance to the upcoming ITA National Team Indoor Championship. WHERE: McCormack-Nagelson Tennis Center – Williamsburg, Va. WHEN: Saturday, Jan. 31 – 8 a.m. Central LAST TIME OUT: Texas opened the season on Saturday, Jan. 24 with a 6-1 victory over Rice in Austin. THE 2009 LONGHORNS: Under fourth-year head coach Patty Fendick-McCain, Texas returns five singles starters from the 2008 squad that tallied a 20-7 overall record, reached the finals at the Big 12 Championship and reached the round of 16 at the NCAA Championships. Heading the returnees is junior All-Big 12 standout Vanja Corovic, who teamed up with senior Marija Milic to reach the doubles round of 16 at the 2008 NCAA Championships. Juniors Stephanie Davison and Sarah Lancaster return after spending their first two seasons as regular starters in the singles lineup. Sophomores Caroline Larsson and Maggie Mello also contributed heavily in singles and doubles action last season. UT welcomes a class of five newcomers headed by freshman Krista Damico and sophomore transfer Amanda Craddock, who helped Georgia Tech to the 2007 NCAA Championship during her freshman season.
