Women's Tennis advances five in singles draw at ITA Southwest Regionals

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Texas chalked up five singles wins and four doubles victories on day two of the ITA Southwest Regional Championships Friday at TCU's Friedman Tennis Center. Fifth-seeded junior Vanja Corovic scored a decisive 6-1, 6-0 win over Baylor's Kasia Siwosz to set up a meeting on Saturday against Rice's Julie Chao. Junior Stephanie Davison outlasted Texas State's Andrea Giraldo by a 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 count and will meet TCU's Gaby Mastromarino on Saturday. Sophomore Caroline Larsson knocked off Houston's Joanna Kacprzyk by a 7-5, 6-0 and will take on Baylor's Jelena Stanivuk on Saturday. Freshman Krista Damico scored a 6-4, 6-0 win over Stephen F. Austin's Alina Shazhko and will meet Baylor's Csilla Borsanyi in Saturday's round of 32. Junior Sarah Lancaster tallied a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 win over Texas Tech's Kelsy Garland and will meet LSU's second-seeded Megan Falcon on Saturday. Corovic and senior Marija Milic registered an 8-2 win over Centenary's Alexandra Dyckman and Erika Iriarte in the main doubles draw. UT added three wins in the consolation rounds of the doubles draw.
