Women's Tennis earns five quarterfinals berths at ITA Texas Regional Championships

WACO, Texas -- Texas earned five singles and doubles quarterfinals berths Sunday on day two of the ITA Texas Regional Championships at the Baylor Tennis Center. Sophomore Krista Damico rallied for a three-set victory over Texas A&M's Lauren Santocroce in the round of 32 before rallying once more for a three-set win over the Aggies' Elze Potgieter in the round of 16. Damico will take on Baylor's Lenka Broosova in Monday's quarterfinals. Freshman Aeriel Ellis continued her solid start with a three-set win over Texas Tech's Elizabeth Ullathorne in the round of 16 and a commanding 6-2, 6-3 win over Rice's Rebekka Hanle in the round of 16. Ellis will meet Baylor's Csilla Borsanyi in the quarterfinals. Junior Amanda Craddock scored a straight-set win over SMU's Pavi Francis in the round of 32 and rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Rice's Jessica Jackson in the round of 16. Craddock will take on TCU's Kayla Duncan in Monday's quarterfinals. In the doubles draw, seniors Vanja Corovic and Sarah Lancaster defeated Texas A&M's Janelle Cuthbertson and Ashley Turpin by an 8-5 count in the round of 16. The Texas duo will meet Texas A&M's Morgan Frank and Lauren Santocroce in the quarterfinals. Craddock and Damico defeated Texas Tech's Kelsy Garland and Elizabeth Ullathorne by an 8-5 margin. They will meet Texas A&M's Elze Potgieter and Nazari Urbina in Monday's quarters. ITA Texas Regional Championships
