Women's Tennis eliminated from contention at Rice Invitational
Oct. 8, 2011 HOUSTON – Texas’ singles and doubles semifinalists were eliminated from contention for their respective titles Saturday on day two of the Rice Invitational at the Owls’ Jake Hess Tennis Stadium. In the blue singles bracket, UT’s Elizabeth Begley suffered a 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 defeat to Rice’s Dominique Harmath, and the Owls’ Natalie Beazant defeated UT sophomore Juliana Gajic by a 6-1, 6-2 count. In the gray singles bracket, UT freshman Alex Martin suffered a 6-1, 6-4 defeat to Rice’s Stephanie Nguyen, and Rice’s Kim Anicete defeated UT’s Annat Rabinovich by a 7-6 (5), 6-2 count. UT’s two doubles pairs also were eliminated by Rice. Texas will compete in consolation play Sunday morning at the Rice Invitational. Rice Invitational
