LOS ANGELES -- Texas sophomore Aeriel Ellis fought off a pair of opponents to advance to the semifinals of the consolation singles draw Friday at the ITA All-American Championships.

Ellis outlasted Georgia's Nadja Gilchrist in the consolation round of 16 by a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 count.  Ellis went on to post a 6-2, 7-6 win over Iowa's Sonja Molnar in the consolation quarterfinals. 

Ellis will take on either Tennessee's Rosalia Alda or Utah's Anastasia Putilina in Saturday's consolation semifinals.
