PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Texas senior Aeriel Ellis suffered a straight-sets defeat and was eliminated from the consolation singles draw Friday at the ITA All-American Championships, the first of three national championship events on the college tennis calendar.
Georgia State’s Abigail Tere-Apisah defeated Ellis by a 7-5, 6-1 count in the opening round of the consolation singles draw. Ellis entered the consolation draw Thursday after falling to Penn State’s Petra Januskova in the opening round of the main singles draw.
Ellis and the Longhorns resume fall tournament play on Friday, Oct. 19 at the ITA Texas Regional Championship in Waco.
