Damico claims opening match at ITA All-American Championships
Oct. 5, 2010
LOS ANGELES -- Texas junior Krista Damico notched a straight-set victory in her opening match of the qualifying singles draw Tuesday afternoon on day four of the ITA All-American Championships, one of three national championship events on the college tennis calendar. Damico posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Nevada's Emma Vreberne to advance to the round of 32 in the qualifying singles draw. Damico was set to play Florida's Sofie Oyen Tuesday evening in the round of 32, but rain postponed the remaining matches at Riviera Tennis Club. The match will be played Wednesday, weather permitting. Damico would advance to the main singles draw with two more wins in the qualifying singles draw. A win over Florida's Oyen would pit Damico against either Wake Forest's Martina Pavelec or N.C. State's Sanaa Bhambri with a main draw berth on the line. ITA All-American Championships
