LAWRENCE, Kan. – Texas (13-6, 9-1 Big 12) took two of three doubles contests to secure the doubles point and swept the six singles matches en route to a 7-0 victory over Kansas (10-11, 4-6 Big 12) Saturday afternoon at KU’s First Serve Tennis Center.  The win nails down the No. 2 seed for Texas at the upcoming Big 12 Championship set for April 23-26 in Norman, Okla. 

Texas opened the match with wins at the second and third doubles slots to earn the doubles point.  Sophomore Amanda Craddock and freshman Krista Damico teamed up for an 8-5 win at second doubles over Maria Martinez and Erin Wilbert.  UT clinched the doubles point when junior Stephanie Davison and sophomore Caroline Larsson posted an 8-2 win at third doubles over KU’s Kunigunda Dorn and Yuliana Svistun. 

Texas wasted little time in picking up three singles victories to clinch the team victory.  Craddock dealt Martinez a 6-3, 6-1 defeat at fifth singles, and UT junior Vanja Corovic handed KU’s Edina Horvath a 7-5, 6-2 defeat at the first slot.  Larsson clinched the Texas victory at third singles, where she knocked off Svistun by a 6-4, 6-4 count. 

Damico stretched the Texas lead to 5-0 at second singles by defeating Kansas’ Ekaterina Morozova, 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8).  UT sophomore Maggie Mello tallied a 7-5, 6-4 win over Dorn at fourth singles before UT’s Davison closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Wilbert at the sixth slot. 
 Texas closes out the regular season on Sunday at Kansas State.  First serve is set for 11 a.m. Central.
