Women's Tennis tops Oklahoma State, 5-2

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas (8-4, 4-0 Big 12) remained unbeaten in conference play as it took the doubles point and collected four victories in a 5-2 win over Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center. UT took two of three doubles matches to collect the doubles point. Sophomores Amanda Craddock and Caroline Larsson opened at third doubles with an 8-4 win over Sasha Belova and Maryna Tkachenko. Texas seized the doubles point at first doubles, where senior Marija Milic and junior Stephanie Davison dealt JoAnne Karaitiana and Nataliya Shatkovskaya an 8-6 defeat. The Longhorns pushed their lead to 3-0 with wins at the fifth and second singles positions. OSU's Sasha Belova retired at fifth singles after trailing UT junior Sarah Lancaster by a 3-0 count in the first set. UT took a 3-0 lead after freshman Krista Damico posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Shatkovskaya at second singles. OSU drew within 3-1 with a win at fourth singles, but Texas put the match away at first singles, where Larsson defeated Karaitiana by a 6-1, 6-2 count. The Cowgirls added a win at sixth singles, and UT picked up a win at third singles from Mello, who dealt Tkachenko a 7-5, 7-5 defeat at the third slot.
