Women's Tennis blanks Fresno State, 7-0

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Texas (3-3) registered a dominant performance with a sweep of the doubles matches and six straight-set singles wins, as the Longhorns cruised to a 7-0 win over Fresno State Saturday afternoon in a neutral-site match at Arizona State's Whiteman Tennis Center.
UT made short work of the Bulldogs at the second and third doubles positions to clinch the doubles point. Senior Sarah Lancaster and junior Caroline Larsson posted an 8-1 win over Bianca Modoc and Olga Kirpicheva at third doubles, and senior Vanja Corovic teamed up with freshman Aeriel Ellis to defeat Julia Gragera-Cano and Melissa McQueen by an 8-2 count at second doubles. Junior Amanda Craddock teamed up for an 8-7 (6) win at first doubles over Laura Pola and Renata Kucerkova.
Texas cruised through singles to finish off the shutout. Ellis dealt Kucerkova a 6-3, 7-6 (4) defeat at first singles, and Corovic knocked off Pola by a 6-3, 6-4 count at second singles. Damico posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Modoc at third singles, and Larsson posted a 6-1, 6-2 win over McQueen at fourth singles.
Lancaster surrendered nothing at fifth singles, winning by a 6-0, 6-0 count over Gragera-Cano, and junior Abby Liu notched her first dual-match win of the season with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Anna Mikhaylova at sixth singles. Texas takes on Arizona State on Sunday at noon Central in Tempe.
