No. 28 Women's Tennis falls at No. 1 Northwestern, 6-1

EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 28 Texas (2-3) picked up a win at first doubles and another singles victory from junior Sarah Lancaster, but No. 1 Northwestern (3-0) topped the Longhorns by a 6-1 count Sunday afternoon at NU's Combe Tennis Center. The Wildcats opened the doubles session by winning at the third and second positions to clinch the doubles point. UT emerged with a victory at first doubles, where Texas' ninth-ranked duo of senior Marija Milic and junior Vanja Corovic posted an 8-7 win over NU's 25th-ranked tandem of Lauren Lui and Georgia Rose. Northwestern went on to clinch the team victory with consecutive straight-set wins at the second, third and fifth positions. NU's Lui extended the Wildcats' lead to 5-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over UT junior Stephanie Davison at fourth singles, and Northwestern's top-ranked Maria Mosolova posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Texas' Corovic at the first slot. A day after clinching Texas' 4-3 win over DePaul, Lancaster improved to 4-0 at sixth singles by finishing off Northwestern's Keri Robison, 6-2, 7-5.
