Women's Tennis tallies 14 singles and doubles wins on day two at Georgia Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. -- Texas chalked up seven singles wins against opponents from Georgia and Troy and added seven doubles wins on day two of the Georgia Invitational, a three-day individual indoor event at Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex. UT's 27th-ranked Krista Damico registered a 6-3, 6-1 win over Georgia's Yvette Hyndman, and junior Maggie Mello added a 6-1, 6-1 win over the Bulldogs' Naoko Ueshima. Sophomore Carlene Leyden registered a 6-3, 6-2 win over Troy's Gabriella Veiga, and sophomore Maya Zein-El-Abdin contributed with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Troy's Rosaura Ramirez-Vega. Senior Sarah Lancaster notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over Troy's Lauren Simpson. Junior Abby Liu knocked off Troy's Stephanie Vieira by a 6-1, 6-1 margin, and after posting two singles wins on Friday, senior Stephanie Davison added a third singles win with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 victory over Troy's Emma Smith. The Longhorns went on to claim seven of eight doubles contests against Troy, Georgia State and Kansas State with the lone defeat coming in a tiebreaker. Texas concludes play at the Georgia Invitational on Sunday at UGA's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
