Chang, Yarrison honored by Big 12 Conference
IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference selected Texas junior swimmer Hee-Jin Chang and senior diver Mary Yarrison as its Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week after the duo posted strong performances at the recent Texas Invitational. Chang (Seoul, Korea) notched two NCAA individual automatic-qualifying marks, two NCAA individual provisional-qualifying marks and swam on three NCAA provisional-qualifying relays at the meet. Chang posted lifetime bests and NCAA automatic cuts in the 50 freestyle (22.62), and the 100 freestyle (49.18) while adding a lifetime best and NCAA provisional-qualifying mark in the 100 butterfly (54.16). She holds the nation's sixth-fastest mark in the 50 freestyle and the 12th-fastest mark in the 100 freestyle. Yarrison (Springfield, Va.) collected her fourth career selection as Big 12 Women's Diver of the Week after sweeping the springboard diving events at the Texas Invitational. Yarrison claimed the 36-diver three-meter event with 337.60 points, topping her nearest competitor by nearly 40 points. Yarrison captured the 36-diver one-meter event with 300.95 points. The 16th-ranked Longhorns return to dual-meet competition on Thursday, Jan. 10 when they host Auburn at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
