Escobar reaches 400 IM finals at Texas Invitational
AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas sophomore Susana Escobar clocked 4:22.85 in the 400 IM to highlight UT's morning preliminary round on day two of the Texas Invitational. Escobar (Queretaro, Mexico) placed seventh in the 400 IM preliminary round and will make her second finals appearance in as many days after finishing as the top collegiate swimmer in Thursday's 500 freestyle finals. Escobar also added a NCAA "B" cut performance in the 200 freestyle at 1:49.53 for 15th place in the preliminary round. Senior Macie Garrett (Nashville, Tenn.), freshman Natalie Sacco (Dallas, Texas), junior Alexi Spann (Austin, Texas) and freshman Katie Hamilton (Melbourne Beach, Fla.) will put points on the board for Texas when they precede Escobar in the 500 freestyle consolation final. Spann and freshman Carlye Ellis (Ann Arbor, Mich.) will take part in the 100 breaststroke consolation final after placing 11th and 13th, respectively, in the preliminary round.
