BEIJING -- Texas-Ex Laura Wilkinson placed fifth in the women's platform diving preliminary round to advance to Thursday's semifinals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Wilkinson, the gold medalist on platform at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, qualified fifth with 370.70 points. Chen Ruolin and Wang Xin of China qualified first and second, respectively.
Wilkinson tallied her highest marks on her first dive, a forward, three-and-a-half somersault in the pike position that registered 81 points.
Wilkinson will compete in the semifinals set for 9 p.m. Central. The finals get under way Thursday at 7 a.m. Central.
