Women's Swimming has 21 heading to Olympic Trials

OMAHA, Neb. – There will be 21 current and former University of Texas Women’s Swimmers heading to the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb. June 25-July 2. The trials will be held at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha. The prelims will begin at 10 a.m. (CDT) each day while the finals take place at 6:45 p.m. (CDT). A total of 26 men and 26 women will represent the U.S. at the 2012 Olympic Games. Each of the top two swimmers in every event, plus four more in the 100m and 200m will qualify for the National Team the U.S. will send to London. Among the 21 UT swimmers going to Omaha, 19 are from the 2011-12 roster and two others are former Longhorns. Kathleen Hersey and Adrienne Woods are the former UT athletes attending. Hersey qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 200 butterfly and will compete in four events next week. Woods will be swimming in five different events. Karlee Bispo and Laura Sogar headline the list of swimmers from last season’s team. Bispo earned seven All-America honors in her final season at UT and Sogar is among the top breaststrokers in the country. She will swim in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events. Lily Moldenhauer has the most events to compete in with five, including the two butterfly contests. Gretchen Jaques, Ellen Lobb, Kaitlin Pawlowicz and Skylar Smith will all compete in four events.
Entering the trials, Hersey and Sogar are seeded among the top in their events.
