Women's Swimming and Diving trio named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team
AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas senior swimmer Katie Robinson and junior divers Mary Yarrison and Jessica Livingston have been voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI Women's At-Large Team, as announced Thursday by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Robinson and Yarrison earned selections to the first team and will advance to the Academic All-America ballot. Livingston was selected to the second team. Robinson (Dillsboro, Ind.) earned first team All-America honors in the 400-yard medley relay (5th place) and the 200 medley relay (7th place) at the 2007 NCAA Championships. She added honorable mention All-America honors in the 200 butterfly (9th place), 100 butterfly (10th place), 800 freestyle relay (10th place), 400 freestyle relay (13th place) and the 200 free relay (14th place). Robinson set new Big 12 meet records in the 200 butterfly and the 200 medley relay at the 2007 Big 12 Championships. She ended her UT career as a six-time Big 12 Champion and 13-time All-Big 12 honoree. A three-time first team Academic All-Big 12 selection, Robinson holds a 3.85 grade-point average in kinesiology. Yarrison (Springfield, Va.), the 2007 U.S. Spring National 1-meter Diving Champion, placed seventh in the three-meter, ninth in the one-meter and 19th on the platform at the 2007 NCAA Championships. She claimed the one- and three-meter diving events at the Big 12 Championship. Yarrison is a member of the 2007 U.S. World University Games Team. A first team Academic All-Big 12 selection and a member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll, Yarrison holds a 3.90 grade-point average in English. Livingston (The Woodlands, Texas) claimed the 2007 NCAA platform diving title after winning the same event at the 2006 U.S. National Championships. A three-time All-American, Livingston added a third-place finish in the three-meter and an 18th-place finish in the one-meter event at the NCAA Championships. A two-time Big 12 platform diving champion, Livingston was named the 2007 Big 12 Women's Diver of the Year. She is a member of the U.S. World University Games Team. A first team Academic All-Big 12 selection and member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll, Yarrison holds a 3.37 grade-point average in advertising. District VI includes all NCAA Division I schools in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and New Mexico. The At-Large category includes student-athletes in bowling, rowing, fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo. To be nominated for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes must reach sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution to be eligible.
