Bispo, Woods named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

AUSTIN, Texas - Members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) have selected Texas women's swimming and diving junior Karlee Bispo and senior Adrienne Woods to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Team in the women's at-large university division. Bispo was selected to the first team while Woods earned a second-team selection. Bispo now advances to the national ballot for All-America consideration. Bispo (Modesto, Calif.), a chemistry major, earns her second consecutive selection to the team while Woods (Dexter, Mich.), a psychology major, picks up her first career selection. The women's at-large division features student-athletes competing in swimming and diving, tennis, golf, bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, lacrosse, skiing and water polo. The district six university division includes NCAA Division I schools in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, Mississippi and Arkansas. A two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, Bispo earned seven All-America honors as the 2011 Big 12 Conference Women's Swimmer of the Year. The Californian won all seven of her individual and relay events to help Texas win the team title at the 2011 Big 12 Championships. A three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, Woods joined Bispo to earn All-America honors in the 800 freestyle relay at the 2011 NCAA Championships in Austin. She added All-Big 12 honors in the 200 freestyle, 800 freestyle relay and the 100 freestyle at the Big 12 Championships.
To be nominated for the Capital One Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve on their respective teams with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes must reach sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution to be eligible.
