Scoggin to assist Team USA at FINA World Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – University of Texas head men’s and women’s diving coach Matt Scoggin has been named to the USA Diving staff as an assistant coach at this summer’s FINA World Championships set for July 17 through Aug. 2 in Rome, Italy. Scoggin, a former NCAA champion diver at Texas, has served as an assistant diving coach for Team USA at numerous international competitions, including the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2007 FINA World Championships. In Rome, Scoggin will coach Texas-Ex and three-time Olympian Troy Dumais, who will compete in the three-meter springboard and three-meter synchronized diving events at the FINA World Championships. Scoggin’s Texas men’s and women’s divers excelled at the 2009 NCAA Championships. Freshman Drew Livingston captured the NCAA men’s one-meter diving title, and his older sister, UT senior diver Jessica Livingston, a former NCAA platform diving champion herself, took second on the platform and fourth in the three-meter event. Freshman Shelby Cullinan took third in the women’s platform event and sixth in the three-meter event. Senior Jonathan Wilcox placed fifth in the men’s one-meter event, and senior Kathryn Kelly added a sixth-place finish in the women’s one-meter event.
