Women's Swimming and Diving signs Caroline McElhany to National Letter of Intent

April 10, 2009

AUSTIN, Texas – University of Texas head women’s swimming and diving coach Kim Brackin announced Friday the signing of Texas prep standout Caroline McElhany (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent.

A member of the 2008-09 U.S. Women’s National Junior Team, McElhany and UT’s 10 fall of 2008 signees will join the Longhorns’ program this fall.

“Caroline is the icing on the cake for this class,” Brackin said.  “She brings international experience, versatility and total enthusiasm for the sport!  She will add quality depth in the 100 butterfly and the 200 butterfly and should make an immediate impact in the 200 individual medley.

“She is an exceptional student and young woman,” Brackin continued.  “It is easy for me to predict that she will be the one in practice who will make everyone laugh and will enjoy working hard.  With the addition of Caroline, we continue to accomplish our goal of bringing the best Texans to Texas!”
