Women's Swimming and Diving wraps up day three prelims at NCAA Championships
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Texas completed the day three preliminary round session with swims in the 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 400 freestyle relay Saturday at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Texas' 400 freestyle relay just missed a spot in this evening's consolation final, as junior Hee-Jin Chang, freshman Brie Powers and sophomores Alex Basso and Susana Escobar clocked 3:19.27. Northwestern took the last spot in the consolation final at 3:19.16. Chang added a 25th-place showing in the 100 freestyle in 49.07, and junior Alison Soelter took 32nd in the 200 breaststroke in 2:15.77. Texas' two remaining swims come later this afternoon in the 1,650 freestyle. Freshman Natalie Sacco will compete in the second of five heats, while Escobar will compete in the third heat. The opening heat gets underway at 4:40 p.m. Eastern. Texas sits in 12th place with 80 points heading into this evening's finals session.
