Kelly advances to three-meter finals at NCAA Championships
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Texas junior diver Kathryn Kelly qualified for her second diving final in as many days and senior diver Mary Yarrison captured the three-meter consolation round on day two of the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Kelly (Longwood, Fla.) placed third in the three-meter diving preliminary round with a score of 338.80, 24 points behind first-place finisher Emma Friesen of Hawaii. Kelly will compete in this evening's eight-diver final, which will get underway at approximately 8 p.m. Eastern. Senior diver Mary Yarrison (Springfield, Va.) placed 13th in the three-meter prelims with a total of 304.20 but rebounded to handily win the consolation final with 368.45 points, which exceeded the point total from Hawaii's Friesen, the top seed in this evening's final. Yarrison secures nine team points for Texas as the consolation champion. Kelly will earn a minimum of 11 points in the final.
